How did the song come together?
It started as a guitar exercise in writing a “walk down” sort of progression, but in the chromatic sense where you’re not skipping over the “in-betweens” of a typical major scale. That’s usually where I like to dabble anyways, but I hadn’t really done it in such a linear sense before, and I fell in...
What inspired it?
It’s a song less about being lonely and more about reminiscence. A longing for an outcome that you’ll never really know about. Love unrequited in the sense that I didn’t feel it wasn’t taken very seriously, and it’s regrettable that it turned out that way because I didn’t want to leave.
What was the process of making the song like?
The hook and central idea loitered around my heart for a good while. It wasn’t as malleable as I thought it’d be, so I ended up keeping the original feeling as I’d conceived it and at that point I just had to fill in the gaps of the story, which is pretty much a diary.
