This Gil Evans arrangement of the 1939 composition of the same name was originally composed by Spanish composer, Joaquín Rodrigo. As Rodrigo’s best known work, Davis says:
That melody is so strong that the softer you play it, the stronger it gets, and the stronger you play it, the weaker it gets.
