‘'Clearly Quite Absurd’‘ was released as the promotional single for Deep Purple’s 18th studio album, Rapture of the Deep in 2005.
It’s a ballad and the only one on this album.
The promotional single artwork is the same as the title track except with the different title:
[Verse 1]
After all we said today
The strangest thought occurred
I feel I ought to tell you
But it's clearly quite absurd
Wouldn't it be wonderful
If you could read my mind?
Imagine all the stuff
That we could leave behind
[Chorus]
How many words you waste
Before you're understood
Or simply sow some seeds
You'd do it if you could
Let me take a moment of your time
Inside your mind
[Verse 2]
I know what you're thinking
But I don't know what to say
The turmoil and the conflict
You don't have to feel that way
Look into my eyes
And feel my hand upon your heart
Holding us together
Not tearing us apart
[Chorus]
How many words we waste
To justify a crime
Compare it to an act of love
That really takes no time
Why not take a moment to unwind?
Inside your mind
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus]
How many words I wasted
You don't want to hear
Why don't sit in silence, while the muddy walls clear
Why don't you take a moment to unwind?
Inside your mind
[Outro]
After all this same today a strange thought occurred
I feel I should tell you that it's clearly quite absurd
Clearly Quite Absurd was written by Ian Gillan & Roger Glover & Steve Morse & Don Airey & Ian Paice.
