“Boo Radley” is about a person who nobody can seem to understand. The song title is in reference to the character in the classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird who the kids don’t know anything about.
[Verse 1:]
You're always sitting back
Time's got to relax
And you're just waiting for
The answers
But the time is here and now
You're just not letting out
All we think of you is the
Nothing you have shown to us
[Pre-Chorus:]
But can we make Boo Radley come out?
Can we make you show your true face?
Is it true that you're all alone?
If so, then it's a sad disgrace
All your troubles are kept inside
And we may never know them
But if I can lend a hand
Will you be willing to show them?
[Verse 2:]
You're never with someone
Love's a harsh gun
And it's one that
You may never know
Yet you still seem sane and well
But are there fears you have to quell?
I wish I knew but I'm still
Wondering about you
[Pre-Chorus:]
But can we make Boo Radley come out?
Can we make you show your true face?
Is it true that you're all alone?
If so, then it's a sad disgrace
All your troubles are kept inside
And we may never know them
But if I can lend a hand
Will you be willing to show them?
[Chorus:]
You don't even mind that
Society's been your blind spot
And though you'll never tell us
We'd like to know about you
[Verse 3:]
But we'll just give you time
We won't pay you mind
But is there still a chance that
You will talk to me?
If so, then I have missed it
And it will take a mystic
To find out who you are
And what is hiding within you
[Pre-Chorus:]
But can we make Boo Radley come out?
Can we make you show your true face?
Is it true that you're all alone?
If so, then it's a sad disgrace
All your troubles are kept inside
And we may never know them
But if I can lend a hand
Will you be willing to show them?
[Chorus:]
You don't even mind that
Society's been your blind spot
And though you'll never tell us
We'd like to know about you
