“Blood Red Sky” was originally recorded by Brian Vodinh during his time out of the band. When he returned, Jesse Hasek wanted to re-record it with a different approach to its vocals.
[Verse 1]
We guide our hearts through love and war
Like riders on the storm
Searching for the shore
What have I learned
The thicker the skin the deeper the scar
When the blood will shed in vain
All for nothing
What have I learned
[Refrain]
Today fades into yesterday
Tomorrow stays forever a day away
[Verse 2]
You follow the wise and lead the blind
Leaving footprints in the sand
A walking contradiction
What have I learned
[Chorus 1]
I am barely alive, barely alive
Slowly treading water
I am barely alive, barely alive
Reaching my hand down to you
[Post-Chorus](x2)
Drag me out of the water
Pull me down from the clouds
[Refrain]
Today fades into yesterday
Tomorrow stays forever a day away
[Chorus 2]
I am barely alive, barely alive
Slowly treading water
I am barely alive, barely alive
Under a blood read skyline
I am barely alive, barely alive
Slowly treading water
I am barely alive, barely alive
Reaching my hand down to you
[Post-Chorus]
Drag me out of the water
Pull me down from the clouds
