“Attn MOVE” is the 10th track on Algernon Cadwallader’s 2025 reunion album Trying Not to Have a Thought.
The track is a retelling of the 1985 MOVE bombing, where, after police failed to evict members of the black liberation group MOVE from a home in Philadelphia, two bombs were dropped onto the nei...
"Attention MOVE"
The bullhorn sounded
Echoed off of the neighbors houses
Helicopter blades cut the sky open
This wasn’t the first time bullets flying
Fire hoses, a violent eviction
6 years prior
9 arrested sentence
For a century, FBI surveillance
And relentlessly terrorized by a crooked cop turned mayor
Who took it personal
Power and pride were on the line
When they dropped the bomb Philadelphia, 1985
Flames began to dance from roof to roof
Followed by the camera crews
Authorities refused to have anything to do with the men, women, and children trapped inside
For weeks, police tested explosives
Low level cops came up with a crackpot plan
That no one seemed to notice
Or give a damn
Blood on their hands
No one ever charged
No one ever disciplined
Power and pride were on the line
When they dropped the bomb Philadelphia, 1985
Some black clouds never go away
Just hover in place
And change their shape right in front of your face
This is America

Fascism in the city of brotherly love. You hear the short version, and it’s crazy. Then you learn the whole story, and you wonder what the actual fuck is going on here. They got away with it? Don’t we learn nothin’? See song 7.
