About Algernon Cadwallader

Algernon Cadwallader was an American emo band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The band started in the year 2005. They released their first full-length album in 2008 titled Some Kind Of Cadwallader . They released their second full-length album in 2011 titled ‘Parrot Flies’.

The band was renowned for their contrasting vocals and instrumentals, with Peter Helmis' unique screams juxtaposing the bands often twinkly guitars. The style influenced a lot of later emo acts and even helped bring about the dreaded term ‘'twinkledaddies’‘.

In 2012 the band decided to call it quits due to personal matters. Several members did move on to new musical projects such as Dogs on Acid, Business Models and Everywhen, although there is much talk about the possibility of a reunion, especially with the most recent re-press of Some Kind of Cadwallader and Parrot Flies, the release of the Self-Title LP, reissuing many old songs and adding some unheard B-Sides.
