Afterglow was the last song written for Electric Soul, written in December 2019 the day after the album trailer was shot.
Bolton says the song emulates the feeling of the movie Bladerunner. He describes it as “being in a futuristic city, riding a train, and pulling up to a party.”
[Verse 1]
Wake up to the sound of the city
Something's going down in the city
Love to run around ’til I'm dizzy
The sun never comes out when you're with me (Oh, oh)
[Chorus]
She love to put on a show
I know the place we should go
Where we can lose all control
Where we can roll
We’re in a room full of ghosts
Breathing in all the smoke
So I think I'll give a toast
To afterglow
To afterglow
[Verse 2]
Wake up to the sound of the city
Something just went down in the city
All the flashing lights look so pretty
Virtue loves to die when you're with me
[Chorus]
She love to put on a show
I know the place we should go
Where we can lose all control
Where we can roll
We're in a room full of ghosts
Breathing in all the smoke
So I think I'll give a toast
To afterglow
To afterglow
[Outro]
I just wanna go to the afterglow
Somebody tell them I ain't coming home
And I can't feel my face, I'm high as outer space
I’m floating, I’m coasting
I just wanna go to the afterglow
Somebody tell them I ain't coming home
And I can’t feel my face, I'm high as outer space
