About William Bolton

William Bolton, or Willy B, is an American singer-songwriter and producer from Detroit, Michigan. His sound is inspired by Motown, disco, and hip-hop, citing J Dilla and Mayer Hawthorne as some of his biggest influences.

He began his career releasing his music under the alias Times New Roman. He released a few EPs during high school and passed them out to students via CDs.

It was on SoundCloud Bolton released the Satifaction Demo Tape in 2014, and his debut project Summer Breeze in 2015, along with several songs that didn’t make the cut. His official debut album Love Supreme was released a year later on all mainstream streaming platforms.

In 2017, after moving to LA, Bolton released numerous singles and the three EP’s Glow, Let Me Know, and One of One. They were followed up by the compilation album Highlights on the 1st of January 2018, which contains most of his music released in 2017.

Bolton’s sophomore album Anti Love Love Songs was released song by song in the Summer of 2018. Bolton released a handful of singles in 2018 and 2019, which pointed his sound in a more mature direction.

Then, in March 2020 he released his disco-inspired album Electric Soul, with the singles “Teasin', “Good”. and “High Fashion”.

Then, every two weeks, from September to December 2020, Bolton released each song from his darker project Penthouse 8 in consecutive order.
