[ EILEEN, spoken ]
You have no idea how many prayers were said for you. Thousands!
Gayle had the most beautiful prayer circle. This would have been... mid-September? Yes, I know, because it was the five-month anniversary of your vanishing. To the day
[ EILEEN ]
Gayle brought us out to her lovely lawn
It was crisp and cool, we had ski hats on
And we made a ring
Around her tree
That dazzling maple
With it's three arms reaching through the end of day
As though it's catching a bouquet
[ EILEEN, spoken ]
You know the one I mean!
[ LUKE, spoken ]
No, I don't
[ EILEEN, spoken ]
Of course you do, it's the gorgeous one, next to the sundial!
[ LUKE, spoken ]
I don't even know where Gayle lives
[ EILEEN, spoken ]
Oh... across from Wesley Farms, you know that!
[ EILEEN ]
We removed our gloves
Daddy held my hand
And Gayle said
"Lord, we understand
That we'll never know what you have in store
But our hearts are breaking daily for our friend, our son, our Luke
Again, we pray
Please bring him home
Please bring him home again"
[ ENSEMBLE ]
Amen
[ EILEEN ]
Then a single tear fell from the sky
Onto my wrist
A single tear, straight from His eye
Told me I'd been kissed
And I knew the sun would rise again
He'd bring you home to me
A single tear
Right on my wrist
Told me you'd be free
[ JOSEPH, spoken ]
I'm sure they'd be happy to come next week, if that's better for you
[ EILEEN, spoken ]
No, no, I'm not so sure. They're on their way!
[ EILEEN ]
And they combed the fields
And the weeks went by
And I prayed at night
But I didn't cry
And we glued your face
Onto every pole
We said, "Thank you, Joyce
For the casserole"
And I could have crumbled
Could have died
Could have killed my faith inside!
[ EILEEN ]
But that single tear fell from the sky
Onto my wrist
A single tear, straight from his eye
Told me I'd been kissed
And I knew the sun would rise again
That he'd watch over me
A single tear
Right on my wrist
Told me you'd be free
[ EILEEN, spoken ]
The least you can do is allow these wonderful people who have poured their hearts into the search for you to express how happy they are to see your face!
[ LUKE, spoken ]
I'm just not ready, Mom. I'm sorry. Where I was, there was barely any noise, so even more than just one voice is still kind of jarring
