VICTON (빅톤) is a South Korean boy group under IST Entertainment. They debuted on November 9, 2016, with the first mini album Voice to New World, supported by the title track “I’m Fine”. Its roster consists of six members: Seungwoo, Seungsik, Sejun, Hanse, Byungchan and Subin. Originally as seven, Chan left the group on October 11, 2022.
The majority of VICTON’s members tackled their trainee lives between 2014 and 2015 and had experience while working with eachother, with for example being the backup dancers at Apink’s concerts and recording the background vocals for the songs by ballad singer Huh Gak. Moreover, their pre-debut reality show, Me & 7 Men began airing on August 30, 2016 on Mnet, while two days later, members Seungsik, Sejun and Hanse (referred to as Plan A Boys at that time) released a collaboration with the aforementioned Huh, “#Begin Again”.
The group made their first comeback on March 2, 2017 with the second mini album Ready, with “Eyez Eyez” serving as the title track, followed by Identity in late August of the same year and From.VICTON, dropped in early November as a part of their one-year anniversary celebrations. Additionally, “Time of Sorrow” marked VICTON’s only major 2018 release.
In 2019, Seungwoo and Byungchan participated in the Mnet’s survival show, Produce X 101. The latter left the show due to health reasons, while the former was placed third during its final ranking, making him a member of X1. The group would later receive their first win on a Korean music show with “nostalgic night” on The Show.
On January 29, 2020, it was announced by Play M that Seungwoo will resume his activites in VICTON after the disbandment of X1, caused by the Produce vote rigging controversy. Besides this, it was confirmed that the group is in the preparations for the next comeback, which ended up being their sixth mini album Continuous, released on March 9, with the follow-up being June’s “Mayday”.
On January 11, 2021, VICTON’s first full-length album, Voice : The Future is Now seen its daylight after a four-week delay due to the continuing spread of COVID-19 pandemic. It also became the group’s best performing album in South Korea, selling over 110,000 copies.
On January 18, 2022, VICTON made their first comeback in a year with Chronograph, which was announced by IST Entertainment by the end of 2021, whilst the seventh extended play, May’s Chaos, broke the boy group’s first week sales record. In late September, the agency revealed that currently former member Chan was caught driving under the influence, which led him to go on a hiatus until he didn’t left the group three weeks later. Shortly after, VICTON, freshly after the line-up changes, announced the November 15 release of their eighth mini album, Choice.
