About mckel

Mckel is an American singer and producer who has been releasing music since 2018.

Mckel began releasing trap-influenced and emo-inspired songs in 2018, all of which is now lost. Beginning in 2019, he started to experiment with a more emotional and ambient kind of music, which resulted in songs like Sitting Across The Room and Beverly Hills / Close To You. In April 2020, Mckel released the non-sensical song titled “hmmm” which would greatly propel his notoriety within Soundcloud’s hyperpop scene, which was taking root at the time. The song established a nightcore-inspired sound for Mckel and gained tens of thousands of plays, despite it having no actual lyrics. In the following months he would release many more sped-up songs, with many of them being jokes and having minimal lyrical content. These kinds of releases would eventually stop as Mckel began to delve into his sound more seriously towards the end of 2020, often using instrumentals that featured acoustic guitars and returning to a more structured lyricism.

Mckel has been involved in a large number of internet music collectives, many of which are now completely disbanded. He is currently known to frequently collaborate with Lost8, 7Nightz, and Lil Soda Boi.

Mckel is known for his frequent uses of vocal pitching and bitcrush, along with a vocal-style that can sometimes make his lyrics hard to fully understand.
