About Marc Vinyls

Marc Vinyls is a rapper hailing from Connecticut. He gained popularity on YouTube by non-copyrighted music channels reposting his music, which in turn allowed other YouTubers to use Marc’s music in their videos and display it to their own audiences.

Marc Vinyls was born as Marco Rapuano on November 16, 1995 in New Canaan, Connecticut. When he was 13, he started writing rhymes, but when he was 15, he actually started rapping. Marc observed and idolized Mac Miller, which spurred the self-described “delusional” dream of him becoming a rapper. Marc started rapping under the name “Heat” and uploaded music to a now-inactive channel called MRapmusic9. While attending New Canaan High School, Marc met his classmate GALLO, making music together the first day they met, and still remain friends and frequent collaborators years later.

Marc’s first project, Reality vs Fiction, was released in 2014, while he was a sophomore in college. The project held the hit song “Winners”, which was featured on popular promoting channel Rap Nation. A few hip hop blogs picked up the project, calling Marc “one of a kind” and comparing him to Mac Miller.

Marc would regularly release music following the release of Reality vs Fiction, and in 2016, Marc went on an 18-week streak of releasing a song per week, and afterwards, went back to sporadically releasing songs. In August 2017, Marc challenged himself to release one song a week for an entire 52 weeks, telling himself that if he couldn’t beat the challenge, he wouldn’t make his dream of becoming a rapper. During this time period, Marc made some of his biggest hits, including “Angels & Demons,” “Close My Eyes,” and “Running Free.” His consistency in dropping music every week, dubbing them “Weeklys,” enabled Marc to gain over 1000 subscribers on his channel. Marc also started regularly livestreaming on YouTube to promote the song and his YouTube channel overall, something that he keeps up with today.

Since beating his 52-week challenge in August 2018, Marc took a break from dropping music every week, but restarted the Weeklys in March 2019. He has intermittently taken breaks from Weeklys since then and experimented by dropping them on Fridays, but overall Marc has continued dropping music frequently.
