The Beaten Track

It’s the nerded wizard wording sicker verses never heard
Simultaneously killed a couple pebbles with a bird
Being that I've learned to covet roaming from the herd
It’s assured that it is worth the isolation I’ve endured
To pure-hearted beatniks I hold in high esteem
I admire individuals assailing up a stream
Eliminating “dream” from the language that we speak
It’s implying limitations to elation we achieve
It was predetermined I excel in this domain
With two musician parents it’s apparent they’re to blame
But stubborn imperfections had me move against the grain
Took the trail with lesser travel from the family I came
In busting out the frame, I've been freely in pursuit
Of my studies to improve the future of tomorrow's youth
But still I pay my dues to the pedigree that raised me
Every verse a tribute to the talents that they gave me

I won't concede, they won't relieve
Joy is the seed that trumps all the needs

A decade and a half into life and I knew where I was headed
The young jock chopped fantasies that embedded
Into dreams when I dreaded the assignments presented
But knew that there was way to reach to those that resented
What was thrown onto chalkboards, warned if they talked more
Kids full of keys never taught to unlock doors
Now we block core beauties of youth
And the long time experts declare that the truth
Is they need more time at a desk
The school should address what is standard in tests
And the rest is a waste, frankly I detest
It's proven that activity is vital for success
So oppress all the cuts to education of the arts
Intelligence is rooted where the innovation starts
Expression of the heart brings a power to the mind
To be harnessed in a manner those without would never find
