There is a term that refers to the debt. “Kapua” is used
So I said, “Tell me about Kapua.”
And one of the younger boys in the picture spoke a little
Bit of English. He was trying to say something, and then he saw his shadow
He showed himself chasing his shadow
And then he looked up at me and said, “Kapua.”
What he was trying to say is, “You can’t catch your shadow
You can’t pay your Kapua.”
You get on the ship and the debt structure disappears
There is a real will to so survive even in awful conditions
And you see that there. Singing, joking, playing
They laugh. They smile. They have comradery
There is a testament of resilience of people
