Wordsworth Way is a story about the mother of the singer, Chris Jericho, more specifically about her death. The song was named after the street he grew up in.
[Verse 1]
Summer days, they drift away
But the memories remain
Autumn days and lost in the haze
But nothing stays the same
I saw her standing at the edge of the drive
My emotions forever paralyzed
Everything that was good in my life
Was taken away that night
[Pre-Chorus]
This road’ll stay the same
My place of joy and pain
That house is in my dreams
My childhood never sleeps
[Chorus]
Help me, help me find the way
To get back from where I came
To a time when everything was beautiful
[Verse 2]
Winter days, they melt away
Like a rummager in my mind
Seasons change, cleanse with the rain
Washed away before her time
I drive these streets, so old, yet so new
A looking glass I can’t see through
I still remember the day she died
2nd of December, I could not cry
[Pre-Chorus]
This road’ll stay the same
My place of joy and pain
That house is in my dreams
My childhood never sleeps
[Chorus]
Help me, help me find the way
To get back from where I came
To a time when everything was beautiful
Help me, ‘cause I can’t say goodbye
Still living with this lie
In a time where everything was beautiful
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
[Pre-Chorus]
This road’ll stay the same
My place of joy and pain
That house is in my dreams
My childhood never sleeps
[Chorus]
Help me, help me find the way
To get back from where I came
To a time when everything was beautiful
Help me, ‘cause I can’t say goodbye
Still living with this lie
In a time where everything was beautiful
Was beautiful
Was beautiful to me
