I wrote this song when all I could see was smoke and falling ash outside of my studio. It struck me that in these seasons of destruction and loss, someone might need to hear that there is hope and that they matter. There can be beauty in destruction, literally and figuratively.
[Verse 1]
Darling, please take my hand
Please get up, rise to stand
I can't be the one to sing your song
'Cause I believe it's not your fault
Don't be scared, you are my rock
Nothing's gonna hold you down for long
[Chorus]
Sometimes we break so beautiful
And you know you're not the only one
I breathe you in, so sweet and powerful
Like a wildfire burning up inside my lungs
I'm burning up, ooh, ooh, ooh
I'm burning up, ooh, ooh
I'm burning up
[Verse 2]
In good time, you'll come to know
When you release, when you let go
You can find yourself where you belong
You're not a curse, you're not too much
You are needed here, you are enough
And nothing's gonna hold you down for long
[Chorus]
Sometimes we break so beautiful
And you know you're not the only one
I breathe you in, so sweet and powerful
Like a wildfire burning up inside my lungs
I'm burning up, ooh, ooh, ooh
I'm burning up, ooh, ooh
I'm burning up
[Bridge]
Darling, please don't give up
Drop your hate and sing for love
Let me be the one who sings along
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
[Chorus]
Sometimes we break so beautiful
And you know you're not the only one
I breathe you in, so sweet and powerful
Like a wildfire burning up inside my lungs
I'm burning up, ooh, ooh, ooh
I'm burning up, ooh, ooh
I'm burning up
Wildfire was written by SYML.
Wildfire was produced by Mark Ralph.
Since the summer of 2017, many parts of the US have been dealing with devastating wildfires. SYML wrote this song to try and bring some hope to the people who may have lost everything.
Wildfire is a powerful song that I included in my “In My Body” EP. For my full length album, I wanted to hit people in the chest with it. I teamed up with an amazing producer, Mark Ralph, and now I think the music matches the power of the lyric.
I wrote this song when all I could see was smoke and falling ash outside of my studio. The whole west coast of the US had been dealing with wildfires since mid-summer and they had wreaked havoc. People have lost everything from their houses to their lives. It struck me that in these seasons of destr...
This song started as a gentle production, comparing the devastation wreaked by wildfire to what some experience in their everyday lives. It was invigorating to work on the album version with someone as imaginative as Mark Ralph. He really made this song sound as powerful as its theme.
