[Verse 1: Alexis Taylor]
Why does my mind fill all my time
With lust and blues? It's true
Why can’t my mind keep things in line
So we can trust in me, and I, you?
Oh (Oh-oh, oh-oh)
It's true (Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh)
[Chorus 1: Alexis Taylor]
Can you hear me?
Is there something coming on
Inside this spirit or nowhere near it?
Can you hear me?
Is there something coming on
Inside this spirit or nowhere near it?
[Verse 2: Alexis Taylor]
What were you stood in waiting for?
I heard you scratched your name at the door
With no reply, caught in your eye
And I have lived through this before
Oh, before
[Chorus 2: Alexis Taylor]
And it says here, we could meet forever more
And it says here, we could meet forever more
And it says here, we could meet forever more
[Verse 3: Alexis Taylor]
Why does my mind fill all my time
With lust and blues for you?
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Why Does My Mind was produced by Hot Chip.
Hot Chip released Why Does My Mind on Fri Jun 21 2019.
A song written on Alex Chilton’s guitar, lent to me by Jason McPhail [of Glasgow band V-Twin], about the perplexing way in which my mind works.
It’s probably one of the older songs on the record. It’d been hanging around for quite a while and definitely was one of Alexis’ favorites. It was good to let him have that moment on the record; it provides a quite contemplative moment.
