“Who We Are Before We Die,” is True North’s debut release. Written by Sean Hansen, “Who We Are,” is a reflection on choosing your battles, as well as putting one’s effort and care into the right things in life, during the short time we all have on this planet.
Every time when I see you
Hear your name or think of who
Lives their life with all new views
This valley's deep and toxic too
Just like the calls and stupid texts
It's like you don't even attest
To putting me on top your shelf
Killing what we had yourself
Not to blame it all on you
I killed as much as you seemed to
I want a love with mutual grounds
But you're still nowhere to be found
Held on too long
Thinking about all that has gone wrong, be strong
No longer your pawn
Forgive me for leaving, the lies I've been weaving
For the first time, I'm seeing through your eyes
And I'm so tired of dreaming, and waking up screaming
This is who we are before we die
If I made up all these lies
See myself in this disguise
I wonder if I would still try
To write this or be the good guy
I'd show my anger with a pen
Scream these words at you again
While you sit there with a grin
Knowing this could be my end
Forgive me for leaving, the lies I've been weaving
For the first time, I'm seeing through your eyes
And I'm so tired of dreaming, and waking up screaming
This is who we are before we die
Help us find our way back
To the sky where we lie
When we lost it
What it cost us
