The following program contains graphic descriptions of rhyme schemes, suspicious meter, and alleged acts of alliteration. Listener discretion… is advised
Mortimer Casketwine:
October 3rd, 1849. Edgar Allan Poe is found, wandering the streets of Baltimore. Confused. Wearing another man’s clothes. Four days later… he is dead
The coroner’s report? Missing. The police record? Inconclusive. The truth? Still debated
But in the absence of answers, we are left with something else. A body of work. And that body… is covered with bodies
A sister sealed alive. A wife hidden in a wall. A friend lured into a cellar, never to emerge
Each story? Another crime scene. Each poem? Another piece of evidence. Together… it’s a mountain of mysteries
Notice the glass of Amontillado, still half full. Why was it left there? We may never know. Probably not important. But maybe, just maybe… his stories shine a light on his own death
Were they confessions? Prophecies? Or did a deranged fan commit… a copycat murder?
This season, we’ll follow the trail of bodies, stories, and suspects to ask the question no one’s ever solved: Who killed Edgar Allan Poe?
I’m your host, Mortimer Casketwine, and this is... "the Poecast." Where every crime has a rhyme… and every rhyme hides a crime
