Where Were You Job? Annotated

[Part I: Life's Railway To Heaven]

[Verse]
Life is like a mountain railroad
With an engineer that's brave
We must make the run successful
From the cradle to the grave
Watch the curves, the fills, the tunnels
Never falter, never fail
Keep your hand upon the throttle
And your eye upon the rail

[Chorus]
Blessed Savior, Thou wilt guide us
Till we reach that blissful shore
Where the angels wait to join us
In Thy praise for evermore

[Part II: Where Were You Job?]

Job 38 and 1:

"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, 'oh Job, where was you when I spoke the morning stars into existence, when I called man from the darkness of the world and placed him in the shadow of my marvelous light? Where were you, Job, when I laid the foundation of the world? Where were you, Job, uh, when I placed man [into the existence of life]?'"

Job, you know, was the most patient sufferer that God has ever had. He'd become tired and wearied of well-doing. Sickness [?] him, and he became weak and discouraged. But one morning as he was worn, tired, and wearied, he was worried about the things of life, but God said to him:

"Oh Job, uh, where were you when I spoke the morning stars into existence? Where were you, Job, when I called man from the darkness into my marvelous light? Where were you, Job, when I spoke the moon and sun out. Where were you, Job, when, uh, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was out in the world? Where were you, Job, when I fed Elijah, uh, [by the hand of the?] raven[s]. Where were you, Job, when the three Hebrew boys were cast in the fiery furnace? Where were you, Job, uh, when Daniel was put in the lions' den? Where were you, Job, when John was in the kettle of boiling oil?"

Job could only look with an eye of faith, realizing in the patience of the Almighty, that though He slay him, yet will he place trust in Him. And I hear Job in the language of, of the 14th chapter say "All the days of my appointed time will I wait, until my change come." So it is with you and I. The Lord is asking us the question today, where are we? We who are walking the streets of ruin, we who are in the cabarets, we who are doing the things that are detrimental to the cause of Jesus Christ, we who have our name on the Lamb's book in heaven, and say that we know that we have our names [as/uh] stamped on Jesus' blood. [All] arise and walk in the newness of life, and He will abundantly pardon you, for Christ's sake. Amen.
