Cheri Keaggy
I made it to church, though just barely there
When the music began it was all I could do to sit slumped in my chair
How can I worship in all of this grief?
You said “Friend you don’t have to” and then you said “it’s OK just to receive”
And you led the way to believe...when you were Jesus to me
I picked up the phone, sure needed a friend
Hoping to find some perspective and wisdom in pain, on the other end
I heard grace and truth, and started to see
God confirmed what you said in his word and then somehow it made sense to me
And I was a little more free...when you were Jesus to me
You were His Love, You were his comfort, bringing the hope that I needed to find
You held me up when I was fallin’ now I know Jesus leaves no one behind
You showed me love...Jesus is Love...
He wouldn’t budge. He wouldn’t give in
So determined to finish the work that He came to do, love always wins
Please make it stop! I can’t watch You bleed
How I wish You could think of some other way instead of dying for me
Lord You were nailed to that tree...And I became totally free...
When you were Jesus to me
