Paul Tazewell designed the costumes for Hamilton, along with the help of Lin-Manuel Miranda. Lin knew from the beginning that he wanted Hamilton to wear green, the purple of Thomas Jefferson’s suit is a sharp contrast to that, hence contrasting their personalities.
