Everything the Chicago Bears need to do to get their 2nd win this season against the Chiefs on Sunday, 11th October.
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Chicago Bears this week as they both try to get their 2nd win this season. Although both teams have been struggling this year, the game will be a good one to watch. The teams have the same record, 1-3 but have had different stories this year. The Chiefs, who won their first game against the Houston Texans, have lost three in a row. The Bears, who lost their first three games, won their first game last week against the Raiders (22-20).
The Chiefs really have been struggling this year, especially after their last game against the Bengals where they lost 36-21. They did not score a single touchdown, however they did not struggling advancing the ball the whole game but did not convert in the red zone. Their kicker, Cairo Santos scored their only points for the day.
The Bears, in short, need to do whatever they did in Week 4 against Oakland. The defense has been playing well this year despite what people are saying from last year and the offense is looking more composed and calm, especially with Jay Cutler in, starting.
Defense wise, the Bears are much better than previous years. Despite the players that were traded and waived, with a big loss in the linebacker core, the defense played a decent game, stopping the run to only 69 yards and getting an interception in the process. Fortunately, Pernell McPhee had a great game once again and is helping to hold down the defensive front. This is exactly what they need to do against Jamaal Charles and the Chiefs who had 75 yards from 11 touches last game.
On offense, Jay Cutler looked much better after coming back from his hamstring injury in Week 2. Honestly, Jimmy Clausen did not benefit the team whatsoever, when he started against the Seahawks in Week 3 and struggled greatly. With Jay back, there will be many more throws and more yards. The offensive line is banged up after Will Montgomery suffered a broken leg last week and is out for the season, and the loss of Matt Slauson. The offensive co-ordinators have been making moves around in the line, so hopefully the newly arranged O-line will protect Jay. Alshon Jeffery is expected to return from his injury he suffered in Week 1 which will give hope-boners to the whole of Chicago.
In summary, what the Bears need to do to win on defense is to continue how they have been performing this year. The Kansas City offense is good, however if the gameplan is correct on defense, good things can happen. On offense the keyword is composure. All they need to do is keep their composure the whole game. Don't try and make big plays, just easy and simple throws and runs to advance the ball and score touchdowns.
