We’re Lucky

Modest Mouse * Track #3 On The Golden Casket

We’re Lucky Lyrics

[Verse 1]
These are the stars and these are the seas
Well, these are the places that we're lucky just to be between
This is our bed and these are our sheets
Da-da-da-da-da-da

[Verse 2]
These are the stars and these are the seas
Well, these are the places that we're lucky just to be between
This is the plant and these are the seeds
Da-da-da-da-da-da

[Chorus]
It takes a lifetime to ever figure out that there
There ain't no lifetime that's ever figured out

[Verse 3]
These are my eyes and these are my feet
Well, these are some places that I'm lucky just to be between
These are the stars and these are the seas
Da-da-da-da-da-da

[Chorus]
It takes a lifetime to ever figure out that there
There ain't no lifetime that's ever figured out

[Verse 4]
These are the stars and these are the seas
Well, these are some places that we're lucky just to be between
These are the stars and these are the seas
Da-da-da-da-da-da

[Chorus]
It takes a lifetime to ever figure out that there
There ain't no lifetime that's ever figured out

[Verse 5]
These are the stars and these are the seas
Well, these are some places that we're lucky just to be between
(It takes a lifetime to ever figure out)
These are the stars and these are the seas

[Outro]
These are some places that we're lucky just to be between
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da

What have the artists said about the song?

That just one fell out—I don’t know that I ever had to put pen to paper. It’s kind of a love song, for getting to be here in the fucking universe, against all odds. Probably one of my favorite moments on the record, because it just feels right.
