I took a walk in the country
To concentrate on you
I took a walk in the country
To recapture an old dream or two

From high on a hill
I gazed on the scene below
And wondered if I would know
Another day like long ago

When we strolled along through the meadow
Too much in love for words
We startled a lark and you said
"Oh, my heart has wings just like that bird"

And there on the hill
That day as I gazed below
A lark flew to me and so
I went on my way through the country feeling at ease
And my heart was as light as the larks whistling in the trees
