“Unsweet” is the closing track from DNCE’s self-titled debut studio album, in which lead singer Joe Jonas sings about the uselessness of seeking for total perfection in a relationship, as instead he puts the focus on the beauty that can still be shown through imperfections.
[Verse 1]
Don't know no history
Except for your own, your own
That lipstick on your teeth
Don't bother you none, no, none
[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause there's somethin' 'bout how raw you are, it's kinda beautiful and makes you feel ali-i-ive (I-I, I-I-I-I)
It's so magical, the way you walk, yeah, the way you talk, you got me hypnoti-ized (I-I, I-I-I)
[Chorus]
I like you unsweet
Don't need no manners
Don't need the good, the good grammar when you pour your heart out on me
Heart on me, when you pour your heart on me
I want you unsweet
You satisfy me
That brutal honesty, won't you pour your heart out on me?
Heart on me, when you pour your heart on me
[Verse 2]
I'm not your enemy
I ain't changin' ya none (I-I, I-I-I-I)
Those girls are stickly sweet
Leave a burn on my tongue (I-I, I-I-I-I), oh, yeah
Heart on me, when you pour your heart on me
[Bridge]
When you pour it up, I don't need a cup
Don't you clean it up, I don't mind gettin' messy with your love
When you pour it up, I don't need a cup
Don't you clean it up, I don't mind gettin' messy with your, messy with your love
[Chorus]
I like you unsweet (I like you unsweet)
Don't need no manners (Don't need no manners)
Don't need the good, the good grammar when you pour your heart out on me (Oh, when you pour your heart)
Heart on me (When you pour your heart), when you pour your heart on me
I want you unsweet (I want you unsweet)
You satisfy me (Oh, yeah)
That brutal honesty, won't you pour your heart out on me? (Ha)
Heart on me, when you pour your heart on me

Unsweet was produced by Aaron Zuckerman & Sir Nolan.
You were a writer on every one of the songs, but only two of those featured writing from other band members (Whittle contributed to “Unsweet” and “Almost”). Was there a reason for that?
It was a unique situation of how things were written in this project. Originally I was just working on music by m...
“Almost” and “Unsweet” are two that I can’t wait for people to hear live. Really all these slower songs, we’re going to really make a moment out of that and try to do a medley of our acoustic set.
