“Undrunk” is about wishing you could undo last night, or wishing you could unlove the person that completely and utterly broke your heart. It’s like a page ripped out of my diary.
The song was released in January 2019, as the lead single from FLETCHER’s sophomore EP, you ruined new york city for me...
[Intro]
Wish I could get a little un-drunk so I could un-call you
At 5 in the morning, I would un-fuck you
[Verse 1]
Honestly, this party's over
Everyone here shoulda gone home
But I'm afraid of being sober
'Cause the first thing I do when I'm alone
[Pre-Chorus]
I start touching myself to the photos that you used to send me
I should have deleted, but kept it a secret
Is that crazy to do?
So I squeeze out the lime on the ice of my drink
And the juice hits the cuts on my fingers
It still doesn't burn as much as the thought of you
[Chorus]
Wish I could get a little un-drunk so I could un-call you
At 5 in the morning, I would un-fuck you
But some things you can't undo
I wish I could un-kiss the room full of strangers
So I could un-spite you, un-lose my temper
But some things you can't undo
And one of them's you
[Verse 2]
I'm afraid to turn the lights on
I don't wanna face this rebound
Is it weird if I come over?
I want to, but I know that she's around
[Pre-Chorus]
So I'm touching myself to the photos that you used to send me
I should have deleted, but kept it a secret
Is that crazy to do? (Haha)
Oh, I'm hungry and wasted and my hands are shaking
I shouldn't be cooking, but spilling hot water
It still doesn't burn as much as the thought of you
[Chorus]
Wish I could get a little un-drunk so I could un-call you
At 5 in the morning, I would un-fuck you
But some things you can't undo
I wish I could un-kiss the room full of strangers
So I could un-spite you, un-lose my temper
But some things you can't undo
And one of them's you
[Bridge]
Been through every emotion
Right now, I'm sad and broken
Like the bottles on the floor, but I'm too buzzed to clean 'em up
Wish I could get a little un-drunk
So I could, I could un-love you
[Chorus]
Wish I could get a little un-drunk so I could un-call you
At 5 in the morning, I would un-fuck you
But some things you can't undo
I wish I could un-kiss the room full of strangers
So I could un-spite you, un-lose my temper
But some things you can't undo
And one of them's you
[Outro]
You, you (Oh-ho)
Wish I could un-love you, you
You, you
Wish I could un-call you, you
You, you
Wish I could un-fuck you, you
Wish I could un-love you

During the week ending April 6, 2019, the song peaked at #61 on the Hot 100.
I feel like this song sort of was developing over a really long period of time. It’s not necessarily about a specific moment, but it’s a song about wishing you can undo loving your ex and wishing you can undo last night. And I went through a really shitty breakup and “Undrunk” was the first song tha...
I’ve been a really big fan of Malay for a really long time and just sort of his sonic palette and the sounds and all the artists that he’s worked with. And so he just really brought “Undrunk” to life and gave it such a raw edge that I was really stoked about.
The song originally started in a studio in Koreatown. I wrote it with my friends Amy Allen, One Love, and Kinetics. We were taking tequila shots, naturally, as one does on a rainy Friday night, and somebody said, “We gotta try to get a little un-drunk so we could write a song right now.” And I was l...
“Undrunk” was certified Gold by the RIAA on January 6, 2020.
During a Track by Track with Billboard in August 2018, FLETCHER said:
We were literally taking tequila shots during our session, and one of my friends said to me, “We have to try to get a little bit undrunk right now so that we can write a song.” And I was like, “That is the greatest word ever.” We...
