Tommy’s Ballad

Tommy went out late one night down to a bar
Told himself he wouldn’t go too far
But he fell for his own charms
One became too many real fast
Now he's passed the mark he who enters never turns back
Cause once he starts
Tommy sleeps the devil plays his part

Johnny sits across from Tom he's with his pals
They're on the sniff and all out on the prowl
When Johnny spots a pretty girl
He grabs her by her waist and starts to flirt
She tells him her name is Pearl and he won't be seeing any more of her
So he grabs her skirt
Tommy watches on with pinched a nerves

Pearl pulls away, Johnny laughs it off and says
You're not my type anyway babe
He meets Tommy face to face
He asks him, do we have a problem mate?
Now Tommy's feeling brave and he starts to run his mouth what a mistake
Johnny nods to his mates they kick Tom to the curb and stomp his face

Tommy thinks

Holy-moly I feel rough my face it feels so numb
Let by's be by's I'm gone
But I just want one crack at that boy John
He grabs a bottle of rum
And with a flick of Tommy's wrist Johnny's no more
Pearl cries out murderer as Johnny's blood soaks into the floor
