About

“To The Sky” was the only completed unreleased song of the 1986-1987 Kiss Kiss Kiss Me recording sessions.

Originally only available on the rare Fiction Records promotional CD Stranger Than Fiction, the track finally saw official release in 2004 on the rarities anthology Join The Dots.

To the Sky Lyrics

[Verse 1]
One perfect morning I was all alone
Listening to the blaze of summer
Drifting, I was falling, I was floating in a golden haze
Breathing in the sky blue sounds of memories of other days

[Pre-Chorus]
And in my dreams I was a child
Flowers in my mouth and in my eyes
And I was floating through the colours of a sky
Up to the stars and angels

[Chorus]
Up, up, up to heaven
Up, up, up forever
Up, up, up to heaven
Up, up, up forever

[Verse 2]
Turning in my climb I looked down on a lake
And traced upon the water there I saw your face
And sang in recollection of the times we shared
Then pushed on ever upward to the sky

[Pre-Chorus]
And in my dreams I was a child
Flowers in my mouth and in my eyes
And I was floating through the colours of a sky
Up to the stars and angels

[Chorus]
Up, up, up to heaven
Up, up, up forever
Up, up, up to heaven
Up, up, up forever

What did The Cure say about "To the Sky"?

Robert Smith said in a fanzine:

“To The Sky” was an unused track from the Kiss Me sessions; I don’t particularly like it (that’s why it didn’t get released!) but when Bill asked to use it on his Fiction sampler CD I didn’t see why not.
