An ode to Shania Twain, whose music has been an inspiration for so many. This was composed on a napkin in Wetherspoons.
Shania! Fire! Lift me higher!—
Though I be but a poor pariah—
A poet (and therefore a liar,
Spite of Sidney.) Why aspire
To claim you for my music's Muse?
I hardly warrant Arcade Fire,
Canada's worst, should me inspire.
I hardly warrant Taio Cruz.
But thou!—but you! O!—Canada's best!
By whom my stereo is blest
From dawn to dusk! Up! Come on over!
Come live with me, and be my lover!
—But (God!) my blasphemy betrays me,
Betrays the roofs to which you raise me.
I love you. I confess again:
I love you, though we two remain,
Shania Twain, forever twain.
