Three Kings

Once upon a time
In three different castles
With three different kings
Who appointed their vassals
To find something beautiful
Bring it right back to their thrones

One found the ocean and bottled a jar
One found the earth and he shoveled it hard
One found the sky and he breathed in and didn't exhale

Now back to their kingdoms they brought what they found
Expecting applause, but the kings made no sound
"Why have you brought me something that I've seen beforе?
I wanted something beautiful
Not somеthing that's already mine"
Hard to find

Leaving in anger
On three different journeys
The kings went in search of a beauty deemed worthy
Meanwhile the vassals would stay and watch over their thrones

One king sailed the ocean and drowned in the tide
One dug the earth and was buried alive
One found the sky and then fell from the highest of heights

Now up into heaven, their spirits would go
Expecting a welcome, but God told them no
"Why have you brought me something that I've seen before?
You wanted something beautiful
I'd given you all that and more"
