Iain sent me rap lyrics of his and said “make a regular song out of this” (not verbatim).
The title comes from an out of context lyric from the said rap. I just liked the way it sounded.
I was recording this song when I got stopped by the police (which you hear me in track 7)
Well, color me blind I've just seen a ghost
All work and all play's A handful For most
But I'm dying, I'm dying For closure
The kid and the king await for us all
We hide civil servitude Under a drawl
But I try and I try and I try and I try Not to break it. I'm nursing these words so I don't
Look absurd As I fake it
Cuz you know that I'll never be happy
And you know I'll never be happy
Until I grow up for a while
I'm becoming token, I've spent all my sand
On paper for later, I'm too tired to stand
And I'm going, I'm going to leave you
Materialize, and you'll pop heads for pearls
I never did fuck with those Similar girls
And I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready to bicker As soon as I tune, or whatever will End it all quicker
And you know that ill never be happy
And you know I will never get married
Until I get over that bitch
