Eddie (Paul Newman) triumphs over Minnesota Fats (Jackie Gleason) in a rematch. When Bert (George C. Scott) insists on the money that Eddie owes him, Eddie refuses to pay and dares Bert to have him hurt. Instead, Bert gives up his claim but warns Eddie never to step inside a pool hall again.
