The truth is, I haven’t ever really told the truth
For years I wandered around, throwing things against walls
Hoping they’d stick
Threw my heart against y’all hoping I’d get picked
And I hated myself Hated myself for needing validation
Hated myself for needing adulation
When I already knew I was already good enough
Jerz would say, “Natty you gotta stop being so safe…be that nigga!”
I was so scared to be that nigga because I didn’t even know how to be me yet
And now, now I’m more than just “that nigga”
Words can’t define me, likes can’t remind me
Results will outshine me, and still
God gets the glory, because I told my truth
