I came alive in a prehistoric time
Beside a sacred shrine beside the roadside
I looked round and I broke down and cried
It was my first time as a man
An extra length I did not understand
Forces of darkness wrestled control of the land
Then women came riding
Then women came riding
Then women came riding - oh, they did not understand
They looked at me as an ordinary man
They looked at me and they saw only trouble
"We look at you and we see only trouble"
The goddess screams and she sees only trouble
I scream "Please let me run with you
I will ride in shackles if you'll only take me away
From the forces of darkness that have turned my life upside down"
Oh, the state my house is in
And chains they bore me away
Yes and chains they bore me away
And time passed
And Winters passed
And Winters were cold
And Winters were long
And Summers were beautiful
And Summers were beautiful
And time passed
And I was an elder of the tribe
I was an elder of a female tribe
For I was trusted trusted
For I was trusted trusted
Then BANG!
The goddess did ascend to me through pure white light
Delivered unto me from her divine heavens to my temple between my eyes
And as the goddess poured into me in purest female energy
I felt reflected in the moonlight a sudden strange feeling of nausea
A sickness creeping upon me as of a war of the genders
My senses were appalled by all things female
And I'm shaking
And my male self stood up bold and rigid to battle
Speaking just to weaken............
She told me of a male energy coming
She told me of a tower
She told me that I must destroy this tower
But I was not receiving
But I was not receiving
I dressed and I rode
I dressed and I rode........
I could not rescue the night from the male sunrise...
The Tower was written by Julian Cope.
