The Rest

It's a cocaine in my coffee kind of morning
It's a tired I feel deep down in my bones
If I never fall asleep then I won't see her in my dreams
And I won't have to feel the pain of letting go

Last time I closed my eyes you know what hurt me
Was a vision of pure beauty standing there
Her honey brown eyes and that I love you smile
And the sunlight dancing softly on her hair

Now I know I can't stay awake forever
But I know sleep will only take me there

So if I die tonight drinkin' her memory off my mind

It's another chilly ghost town Sunday evening
The kind of cold that leaves a frost bite on your soul
I rarely ever sleep, it's hard to care about the heat
When your heart still feel so broken and alone

I dreamt I cried to God to end this hurtin'
I begged for him to take away the pain
Then he handed me a picture of the day my son was born
He said "each memory contains so many things"
