The Only One

The end is nigh
The world is heavy
As I'm calling out it's falling foul I fear

I try to write
To hold it steady
But I lose my way as they keep drawing near

Their war is on
And their evil's raging
And my only weapon is my father's pen

So I write
Without engaging
Cause I won't let them light the fuse in me again

Story after story
And page after page
I'll write about our glory to kill the rage

This is what it is when you live for love
This is what you do when you die for the life you're dreaming of
This is who I'll be 'til the world is done
But am I the only one?

To stop the blame
And start believing
That we can cultivate a beauty in the light

To will set us free
And end the grieving
For a world that can make peace without a fight

I need to write
A new beginning
I need to tell the tale of enemy as friend

That someone will read
And feel we're winning
Cause if I don't I don't know how this thing will end

Letter after letter
And word after word
I'm sending out my signal like a bird

To want the beautiful and bright
A world of healing, hope, and light
A place where people live in quiet pride

My brother's friend, my father's joy

To tell me what I'm meant to do
Could it be we were wrong?
