My dad got sick so I moved back to town but
Month after month it started grinding me down
I should have just stayed away
He never liked me anyway
Even when he was sick
There are so many churches here
And it’s always raining and
At home no one says anything at all
And what ain’t seen
Is how to be when you feel like
You’ve been set in concrete
I can’t stop thinking about you and the way
You were on the phone that night
Your voice suddenly fell apart with the sound
Of his truck coming home
You said once we both had eyes that were dying
But maybe we ain’t dying
Maybe we’re just meant to be
It’s all a wreck and we both know it’s true
But what if you could leave with me and
I could leave with you too
It ain’t always wrong to give up and run
