The Laugh Track is the third single from Ice Nine Kills' seventh studio album. It is based on the 1989 Batman film with Spencer taking the mantle of Jack Nicholson’s “Joker”. Instrumentally, the track bares a resemblance to the movies original theme.
The track was initially teased in mid September...
[Verse 1: Spencer Charnas]
Time ticks by as the story unfolds
All smiles tonight, so let the laughter explode
Half comedy, half killing spree
My screws are loose, but the joke’s on you
[Pre-Chorus: Spencer Charnas, Joe Occhiuti & Both]
'Cause Gotham is burning bright
But the show must go on tonight (Oh, oh, oh)
[Chorus: Spencer Charnas, Joe Occhiuti & Both]
So join the parade, turn that frown upside down
While you’re screamin' in pain, I'll be laughing out loud
Singin': "God can't save us, God can't save us"
The joke's on you
[Verse 2: Spencer Charnas]
Time ticks by, here's a comical twist
There's a sign in the sky, but it doesn't mean shit
'Cause Gotham's greed's been good to me
The grin will win, here we go again
[Pre-Chorus: Spencer Charnas, Joe Occhiuti & Both]
'Cause Gotham is burning bright
But the show must go on tonight (Oh, oh, oh)
[Chorus: Spencer Charnas, Spencer Charnas & Joe Occhiuti]
So join the parade, turn that frown upside down
While you're screamin' in pain, I'll be laughing out loud
Singin': "God can't save us, God can't save us"
The joke’s on you
[Bridge: Spencer Charnas, Spencer Charnas & Joe Occhiuti]
People of Gotham, let me be clear
In the dark of the night, it's the Bat you should fear
I have only one question before we ignite
Will you dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
[Breakdown: Spencer Charnas]
Born in an acid bath
That's how I got my grin
I killed his mom and dad
Laughter's the best medicine
Fear me
Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
[Chorus: Spencer Charnas & Joe Occhiuti]
So join the parade
Turn that frown upside down
While you're screamin' in pain
I'll be laughing out loud
Singing: "God can't save us" (We're laughing either way)
"God can't save us" (We're laughing either way)
"God can't save us"
One, two, one, two, three, come on
[Outro: Spencer Charnas, Spencer Charnas & Joe Occhiuti]
Time ticks by as the story unfolds
All smiles tonight, so let the laughter explode
Half comedy, half killing spree
My screws are loose, but the joke's on you
