The title track of Local H’s eighth studio album is a reference to frontman Scott Lucas’s first job as a teenager, working at a movie theater. The theater in his home town of Zion was eventually torn down, marking the last movie, or “picture show”, in Zion.
[Verse 1]
There's no more movies in my town
They shut the place up and tore it down
Another hole in a road of holes
Don't think I'll ever go back home
[Chorus 1]
There ain't no ghost in your ghost town
There ain't no ghost in the sky
A lack of fire and a lot of smoke
Your white boy blues, it's a joke
[Verse 2]
They shut the show down in my town
That old theater, they tore it down
The mayor declared a tragedy
There's nothin' out there he'd pay to see
[Chorus 1]
There ain't no ghost in your ghost town
There ain't no ghost in the sky
A lack of fire and a lot of smoke
Your white boys blues, it's a fuckin' joke
[Chorus 1]
Well there ain't no ghost in your ghost town
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in your ghost town
There ain't no ghost in the sky
[Chorus 2]
Well I took the bottle and I
I brought that plane right out of my life
[Chorus]
Well there ain't no ghost in your ghost town
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
[Chorus 1]
Well there ain't no ghost in your ghost town
Ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the ghost town
Ain't no ghost in the sky
[Chorus 2]
[Chorus 1]
Yeah there ain't no ghost in the ghost town
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
There ain't no ghost in the sky
