The King of Growing Up

To notice what you thought before
And accept you might change your mind
To see an ocean still unknown
And dip your toe from time to time

It’s okay to be unsure
It’s a strength and not a flaw
It’s not weakness to defer
Until you know that you know more

I see myself so clearly now
In all your fears and travails
At least amidst it all you'll have
My arm around to keep you safe

I'm not the king of growing up
I'm just reciting my mistakes
I overbear but pure in hope
