The Jeweler, track 10 on [Silver], tells the story of a man who found a rare diamond, sold it, and regretted his decision. The diamonds seems to represent something, possibly faith or a partner.
[Verse 1]
There was a time I was broke
Had nothing to my name
Poor and out of hope
Until that lucky day
I stumbled on a diamond
More rare than anything
A gemstone that was shining
Unlike anything I’ve seen
I took it home and placed it
In a box to keep it safe
There’s only one I know of
And its right in here with me
I showed my friends and they said
“You’re the richest man alive”
So I brought it with me everywhere
To show the world what’s mine
What’s mine
What’s mine
What’s mine
And they said
[Chorus]
My, my, my
God I wish I was the jeweler
My, my, my
He’s got everything I want
My, my, my
I would kill to have his future
If things dont turn up ‘round here any sooner
Oh I wish I was the jeweler
[Verse 2]
Time pass and the whole world knows
He’s got it and it’s one of a kind
People started asking “hey how much?”
And you never could’ve named the price
But as the years went by, he thought the diamond lost its shine
But you can melt that down, turn it into something else
In the end it’ll be alright
They said “what’s your problem? Dont you know about the rock in the palm of your hand?
I think you’re best off selling it
Buying something better if you wanted something else instead”
So I made my money, spent it all
In the end I realized
That not a dime in the whole wide world could buy
The gem that once was mine
Was mine
Was mine
Was mine
And I said
[Chorus]
My, my, my
God I wish I was the jeweler
My, my, my
He’s got everything I want
My, my, my
I would kill to have his future
If things dont turn up ‘round here any sooner
Oh I wish I was the jeweler
[Bridge]
And I said oh
Ah, ah, ah
And I said oh
Ah, ah, ah
And I said oh
Ah, ah, ah
And I said oh
Ah, ah, ah
And I said
[Chorus]
My, my, my
God I wish I was the jeweler
My, my, my
He’s got everything I want
My, my, my
I would kill to have his future
If things dont turn up ‘round here any sooner
Oh I wish I was the jeweler
