The first Noel
The angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
In fields as they lay
In fields where they
Lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep

They were trembling with fear
But the angel replied
"I bring you glad tidings, do not be afraid"
With peace on earth
Goodwill to men
The multitude left the night quiet again

In Bethlehem
Wrapped in swaddling clothes
They found Jesus just like the angels had told
They were broken by the thought
As their young savior nursed
That God sent a baby to break the curse
