The Beast

There’s a sound on the wind like a nuclear bomb
And a noxious smell in the thick of the fog
But the heads let the tails keep wagging the dog
And the dregs of war march along
To the screams and the cries rising into the sky
Like a choir comprised of the marginalized
And the light that shines in their million eyes is enveloped by a flash-bang flight

It's a long hard way to fall
When you refuse the wisdom
Written on the wall
And the wolf you choose to feed
Becomes the beast that tames you
May their devil take them all

Then a bullet flies through the heart of the crowd
And the militants march through the chemical shroud
As the coward in chief spits his hate out loud and his sycophants snivel and bow
Til the scene explodes in the city square
An electric charge and a great despair
As the children choke on the toxic air
And the tanks roll onto the scene
It’s the death of the American dream
