The road home soaked in you, piss wet through
Bruised by things we used to do (Black and blue)
I don't need saving I just need to make a move
Dust off my dancing shoes, whether or not I feel the groove
Avoid most of the boobytraps, but still gotta take a chance or two
Grief's a trickster, turn trinkets into time bombs
Gifted stitched smiles, stolen shell shrapnel
Unopened books with worn out spines
On my floor like land mines
Ticket stubs good for just one ride, I hitched a while
Thought it'd be forever

Pressed your roots into mine, dreaded, entwined
Tried to grow fruit where the sun doesn't shine
Most times, mango and lime, sweet and sour
Overpowering now but know the flavours fade over time (They do, they do)
Old beef aged like leather
Left me with a lot to chew
Sweating in the kitchen but still fixing up the stew
Take pride in how it all comes together
It doesn't smell like mum's yet, but it'll do
One day we'll sit and wait for the tea to brew (I know how you take yours)
