Sunnyside Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I woke up late and I just got paid
My phone rings, it's my friend
And he said
"Are you coming? It's a beautiful day"
So I get on my bike and I ride it fast
Right down by the sixwats
Gonna meet my friend at the harp
To pick "tricks" for me
And "I don't know where you been," he said
But let me welcome you back to the "don"
And "have you got the time," he said
"Even better have you got a song?"

[Chorus]
Singing, oh oh, everyones got their own
And do you want to run now, baby?
It's shining even when it's dark
You better get your money, baby!
The sunnyside is the park!

[Verse 2]
You know that everything's the same
In this town, oh!
All I hear are the questions
From you and me
So I'm walking through that gate
Cause this town, no!
It never held any answers
Sunnyside for me
And I dont know what day it is
But it's a fine day in the "don"
And if you got the time I say
Come on down and help me sing this song!

[Chorus]
Singing, oh oh, everyones got their own
And do you want to run now, baby?
It's shining even when it's dark
You better get your money, baby!
Sunnyside is the park!

Come on Ali, burn it down like Weston Pier!

[Interlude]

[Spoken]
You know Hyde Park's too big for me
College greens not right you see
Got no appeal to strawberry fields
Just one place sets me free!

[Chorus]
Oh oh, everyones got their own
And do you want to run now, baby?
It's shining even when it's dark
You better get your money, baby!
Sunnyside is the park!

[Poem]
The shy sheepdog sits by the bandstand
And squints towards the sun
Confetti sparkles the streets outside the church
As a band of gull's swoop with confusion towards it
"Well my!" One says as he coughs the corner to the ground
"Congratulations Hadrick!" the other squawked to what he'd found
And the father of the bride winds down the promenade
With his chubby cheeks jerking to the squeak of his chain
And Peppermint Pam pushes her Victorian pram
Pleasing and pleasant as she collects her fortnight ham
With spiral tunnels to Harry's hole
The sleepy, speechless badger
By day perhaps but when she sleeps
He takes a different manner
And this squeaky pier some say overlaps a chocolate mouth
Others say its a murky reminder of our adjacent neighbours
Which we just wish would move out
