Spring for All but Me

Winter's frost thaws away to crystal morning dew
Flowers bloom to the sounds of songbirds
Children trade their warm coats for lighter wear
As the sky returns to blue

Warmth returns everywhere to melt all wintry thought
There's a calmness that scents the air while
Lovers lie still in tranquil ecstasy
All their troubles long forgot-

-ten in the rising winds, the sky turns grey
Storm clouds cast their shadow below
I watch in isolation blanketed by
Endless sheets of heavy rain

Time has passed; blossoms now illuminate the trees
Once bare branches soon dressed in green
It is springtime, a chance to start anew
Hopeful spring for all but me
