She spins her web in the rain
I guess it needs reinforcing
Cause the drops cause a strain
Like a noose when you hang
She is kind to her prey
They are comfortably sedated
In her kind and cruel ways
She is kind to her prey
Then the floods come down
Back to work she goes
Against her old nemesis
In the draining hole
Lest her back’s turned
Against the cold of the night
Then her only hold
Is in a spidery bite
She wants to know where it goes
I don’t guess that I can blame her
From the spout to the hole
She wants to know where it goes
And then the spider is the prey
She takes her place in the cycle
Some day the sun will dry the rain
Till then, the spider is the prey
