“Souvenirs” is the second single and opening track from Etherwood’s second studio album, Blue Leaves. Zara uses the metaphor of her love being like souvenirs – all she’s brought into her relationship so far are little good memories but she wants there to be “something more”.
[Verse 1]
Left it all behind
A package by the door
A souvenir for those who find it
Our eyes searching for more
[Pre-Chorus]
Could it be a home?
Busy streets
But never need the signs
A little piece we found
That made us whole
To help us pass the time
[Chorus]
We’ll run until it all falls down
And never count the years
One day I’ll bring you something more
Than just these souvenirs
[Verse 2]
Carry me now
Over mountains, over sea
We can run or ride
We can run a mile
With lights flashing by me
[Pre-Chorus]
Could it be a home?
Busy streets
But never need the signs
A little piece we found
That made us whole
To help us pass the time
[Chorus]
We’ll run until it all falls down
And never count the years
One day I’ll bring you something more
Than just these souvenirs
[Chorus]
We’ll run until it all falls down
And never count the years
One day I’ll bring you something more
Than just these souvenirs
[Outro]
Oh we’ll never count the years
Bring you more than just these souvenirs
Oh we’ll never count the years
Bring you more than just these souvenirs
